09.08.2010 - Eletrobras receives the visit of Japanese executives

Twelve representatives of big Japanese electric power companies, members of the Japan Electric Association, as TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company), the KEPCO (Kansai Electric Power Company) and Hokkaido Electric Power Co., were on 6, in Rio, in presentation of executives of Eletrobras on the company's experience in the Brazilian market, its internationalization plans and the current landscape of the electric sector in Brazil. The meeting was a continuation of the e8 meetings, a group of the biggest electric power companies in the world, which happened between May 24 and May 28 in Tokyo.
 
After the presentation of line of business and plans of Eletrobras, the executives of the company answered the questions about the business of power trading in Brazil, the Brazilian interest in increasing its market participation of carbon credits, forms of market capitalization of electric power, current and future investments of Eletrobras, the influence of hydroelectricity in the Brazilian energy matrix and the country's nuclear program.
 
Japanese executives praised the development of systematic programs of the company focused on the environmental protection and the support to the communities affected by undertakings. They also highlighted the fact that Brazil's energy matrix is predominantly clean and renewable, which, according to them, is a privilege.
 
The Japanese executives showed interest in the company's international expansion and were thrilled with the performance criteria of Eletrobras, focused on the prospection of business with attractive rates of return and not necessarily in countries that the culture is closer to Brazilian's.
 
Eletrobras was represented at the meeting by the director of Technology, Ubirajara Rocha Meira, the superintendents of the General Coordination of the Presidency, Luiz Augusto Figueira, and Marketing, Renato Sacramento, and the manager of the Department of Abroad Business Studies, Ruderico Ferraz Pimentel, and representatives of Eletrobras in the committees of e8.
